Annual Wassail

Annual Wassail at Ryebank Fields orchard

Saturday 10th January, 3:30–5:30pm

Meet at the Longford Road entrance to the fields.

The word 'Wassail' comes from the Anglo Saxon toast 'waes hael' – meaning 'be well' or 'be in good health'. The ancient ceremony promotes the health of orchard trees and encourages a bountiful harvest.

To scare away evil spirits and to invigorate the trees, Wassailers sing, play music and bang pots and pans! 🌳

Please join us as we learn and share wassail songs. Bring a noisemaker, or just your voice, and a mug, and an optional donation to exchange for some warm mulled Apple Juice or Cider 🍺

If arriving later than 3:30pm find us at the orchard, follow the hullabaloo or go to what3words location: flat.rewarding.oath
